It’s not all off limits

Posted By on November 2, 2016

You would think that I have lots of important things going on in my life because it’s been about a bazillion weeks since I’ve had enough spare time to sit down and type out my mental ramblings on the ol’ computer thingy so they can get posted on that there inter-web. Hey, thanks again Al Gore for inventing more than just Global warming.  Truth is that there is just so much SHIT going on that I can’t narrow down my wandering mind to focus on one topic.  My brain is usually jumping from one topic to another faster than Kirby flipping pages of the Toys R Us catalog.  To soon for that joke?

I typically keep “most” politics off the table since although we all want the same things in life, we have different visions of how to off limitsget there. Yours is way wrong by the way.  I’d rather talk about how to knit than have a discussion on religion so that’s also off the table.  Although I have found that Hobby Lobby has a much better yarn selection than Walmart so, there is that.  With no kids, you’re lucky I do not bore you the completely mundane accomplishment stories of my child as though they are some freaking genius because he can tie his own shoes and eats only small amounts of paste.  Which reminds me, your child is average.  Average at best and more than likely even below that line based on what I know about you.

So what is left to discuss? A LOT!  I made a pledge to myself to get this blog updated again and my intent is to share more stories, club updates, events and just more of my utterly useless thoughts and opinions.   El Guapo says I have a plethora of topics to bitch, er I mean write about so I’ll make every effort to do just that.  I’ll commit to giving you something to read on your smart phone while taking a dump and you make an effort to bring in new members.  I’d like to see every current member sponsor at minimum one new guy in the upcoming year.  Now I ain’t so good at math, but that would almost double our numbers I think.

We’re also down to one last Cigar Night for 2016 and that means it’s time for our Annual Christmas party. Can you believe it will be our 10th Annual Brotherhood of the Leaf Christmas Party?  I am just blown away that we’ve been doing an organized party for 10 years.  Actually, many of us have been getting together for Holiday smokes way before the club was even founded.   But this is amazing to me that we are still doing this so many years later.  The party will be at Grampa Bears place (Lauder) on Tuesday December 6th.  Email me if you need the address.  We’ll do our normal gift exchange and the rules have been the same for the last ten years:

To participate all you have to do is come to Cigar Night with a quality cigar and or gift to add to the gift exchange. Anyone that brings a gift will receive one back, that’s how gift exchanges work.  You must pick a high quality premium handmade stick, no seconds, bundles, mistakes, knock offs, fakes, phonies or machine mades.  Spend a few bucks and make sure that it has a band or some designation so the recipient knows what the hell they just got.  Oh yeah, and wrap the damn thing!  It’s a Christmas present to one of your fellow cigar brethren so put some effort into it.  Feel free to toss in any other items you think would make a nice addition to the gift exchange. Any cigar deemed unfit for the exchange will pitched and you’ll have to buy a new cigar for every paid member in attendance.  If you have any questions please email me at the cigarsoldier@cigarnightonline.com for tips, ideas or more details.

I can’t make it much simpler than that. Mike and Wendy always do a great job of setting up and hosting our party and there’s no better way to kick off the Christmas Season with the gang and the high rick of getting emphysema from the second hand smoke.  So this would be the perfect time to bring a guest and show them just how much fun I am.  I mean how much fun you guys are.

Don’t forget that this coming Saturday, the 5th for you dolts too lazy to look at the calendar, there is an event at the lounge you don’t want to miss.  HVC Cigars will be on site at Prohibition Spirits and Cigar Lounge with one of their rollers from Nicaragua demonstrating how they are keeping the Cuban tradition of rolling fine cigars alive. It’s your chance to see how these fabulous cigars are made plus score a deal on these tasty little leafy treats and you may even learn something.

Thank you fellas for another wonderful year. With my commitment to keep you updated more often and your commitment to grow our club, 2017 already looks to be another great year for the Brotherhood of the Leaf.

Peace, love and long ashes.
