What a Weekend

packvikesGood thing I don’t do a podcast for you monkeys because after last nights Packer game I basically have no voice today.  Yeah, it was freakin’ awesome seeing the old man get tossed about and again throw the ball up for a few picks.  Say whatever you want about all he did for the organization while he was here but at this point in his career he is a Viking and I’m a Packer fan, that means I don’t like the guy and I want to see him fail.  The big win for us late Sunday night capped off a great weekend loaded with cigars, football and too many barley pops to even count.

The weekend actually started on late Friday afternoon with a stop at The Lounge in Titletown Tobacco for a Perdomo Patriarch out of my locker and some BS with the boys.  I then went over to Flounders place for some spicy grilled salmon over pasta and I even ate all my broccoli.  It turned out to be a beautiful night so we sat on the patio and burned another cigar under a moon so bright you could have read a book out there.  Well, not me of course but somebody that knows how to read could have maybe read a book out there.

primeThe Saturday line-up started with a trip to Milwaukee to visit Prime Cigars, one of our home away from home cigar shops, for an Acid Cigars event.  Now before you go all cigar snob on me for smoking infused cigars let me tell you that I like them as a change of pace.  It’s nice to toss something totally different into the mix once in a while and these cigars are premium handmade sticks with unique flavors but obviously aren’t for everyone.  I just can’t understand smoking the same cigar all the time so I enjoy having alot to choose from in my humidor.  To me that’s like looking at the exact same issue of Playboy all the time when there is so much variety out there.  I don’t want to miss anything.  After pounding a few brews and burning through two more cigars while watching the Badgers and Iowa go toe to toe, or more like end zone to end zone, we piled back into the truck and lit one more stick for the ride home.  Listening to the game on the radio, the  Badgers dove down the field with a fake punt, a few huge fourth down conversions and a booth review that resulted in the winning touchdown to seal the deal and make that last stick we had a fitting victory cigar to a great win and fantastic afternoon.  A fine little Saturday so far wouldn’t you say?

brocklesnarbeatup2Returning home it was time to char up some dead cow that would go perfectly with garlic mashed potatoes and a few whiskey old fashions.  I can’t tell you how much that hit the spot after a long day of swilling beer and burning stogies non stop.  That of course was not the finale for the evening because there was no way I was going to miss watching UFC 121 with the hopes of seeing square headed Brock Lesnar get knocked down a peg or two.  Holy crap that was one hell of an amazing fight!  Lesnar got a beatdown worse the Rihanna at the hands of Chris Brown.  Cain Velasquez withstood an early attack and in the end beat Lesnar into such a bloody pulp they had to stop the fight in the first round.  That was the icing on the cake for an unbelievable Saturday! Then it was just being a nervous wreck until Sunday night when my injury laden Packers beat those god awful purple pansies from across the river.  I’m exhausted.

Every now and then the stars align and it seems all is well in the world.  This happened to be one of those weekends my Brothers.  My teams and everyone that I rooted for all got wins, I smoked a truck load of cigars and spent some quality time with a few really good friends.  What could be better than that?  Some days it’s actually good to be me.

One quick update for you guys about next months cigar night.  We’ll be meeting on the 2nd of November at Titletown Tobacco where Josh from Oliva Cigars will be there with a great selection of sticks from the extensive Oliva lines as well as some in house specials from the shop.  We’ll have a buy 3 get one free as well as an Oliva V sampler pack with every box purchase.  Good stuff gents.

See you next week.
